Opportunity:
Currently, there are too many constraints to maintain a beverage’s temperature. A bulky mug is your best bet and still, it will cause the liquid’s temperature to cool down before you know it. Customers are currently constrained to use a specific type and style of mug for the bid to slow down the rate at which the liquid cools. This constraint has opened a window of opportunity for Hot Rocks.
Solution:
We have developed an innovative solution to address maintaining the temperature of hot beverages. Our design is a hermetically sealed polymer encased heating module. Simply place the Hot Rocks heating module into an existing hot beverage. The product maintains the temperature of the beverage. This allows for a user to enjoy their beverage for longer periods while avoiding the use of fixed heating appliances like microwaves.
The device is approximately 1.25 inches by 1.25 inches by 1.25 inches. This small size was chosen as a balance between internal components and total volume. Internal components such as the rechargeable battery, charging module, and heating module are critical to the functionality of the device. For example, increasing the size of the battery increases the battery life. On the other hand, increasing the volume of the device decreases the volume amount of the liquid beverage it is next to within a container.
The device is wirelessly charged via a custom USB equipped dock. Charging for both the dock and heating module is based on the industry standard Qi charging protocol. This allows for the heating module to be charged via any Qi charging mat. Wireless charging is attractive for our product as it allows for simple magnetic docking and eliminates the need for non-water resistant charging ports.
